Lieutenant General Harry Goodall (USAF Retired)
General Goodall entered the Air Force in 1949
as an enlisted man, was commissioned in 1957, and became one of
the most highly decorated USAF General Officers before his retirement
in 1991. During his illustrious career, General Goodall served in
increasingly responsible and mostly front line operational assignments.
Highlights of his tour of duty include:
Several tours of duty in the Philippines, Thailand,
and the Republic of Vietnam; Chief of the Fighter Branch in the
Directorate of Operations, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff,
Plans and Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force; Several critical
rescue missions in Thailand, Alaska and Cambodia; Military Assistant
to the Undersecretary of the Air Force; Assistant Deputy Director,
and Deputy Director, Plans and Policy for International Negotiations,
Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Deputy U.S. commissioner
of the U.S.-Soviet Strategic Arms Limitation Talks Standing Consultative
Commission; Commissioner of the U.S. Component of the Commission
with temporary rank of Ambassador.
General Goodall has more than 5,000 flying hours
in various U.S. Air Force fighter and special operations aircraft,
as well as fighter aircraft of allied nations. He flew more than
200 combat missions in Southeast Asia, 42 over North Vietnam. His
military decorations and awards include the Defense Distinguished
Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Defense Superior Service
Medal, Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters, Distinguished
Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air
Medal with 12 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with
oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation,
Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with "V" device and two
oak leaf clusters and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm.
He also has been awarded the flying wings of the German Luftwaffe
and is the recipient of the Freedom Foundation's George Washington
Honor Medal. The General also earned an Air Force Missile badge
and a Parachutist badge.
From 1991 to 1993, General Goodall served as Managing
Director, Alenia S.P.A, Naples, Italy, the provider of the G-222
that was converted into the USAF C-27 by Chrysler Technologies Airborne
Systems, Waco, Texas. From 1993 to 1995, he was President, Goodall
Associates, consulting in energy conservation and related technologies.
Principal clients included Honeywell and Rockwell. In the ensuing
five years, General Goodall was Senior Vice President, AT&T,
running a $1.4B government business base, including classified programs
and White House Communications.
From June 2000 to February 2002, the General was
CEO of Optimal Energy Systems, Inc., a start-up, new-technology,
flywheel energy storage company focusing on electrical energy systems
for spacecraft. Since June 2002 he has served as a Board Member
and Director, Strategic Planning, for Advanced Concepts and Technologies
International, LLC, with headquarters in Waco, Texas. The General
also has been serving as a Senior Fellow, at the National Defense
University, since June 1995.
General Goodall earned a Bachelor of Science degree
from the University of Nebraska in 1965, a Master of Science degree
in business administration from George Washington University in
1967 and a Master of Science degree in public administration from
Auburn University in 1974. He completed Squadron Officer School
in 1962, Air Command and Staff College in 1967, and Air War College
as a distinguished graduate in 1974.
